Important Changes Have Been Made to the Homeless and Eviction Prevention Fund
The Homeless and Eviction Prevention Fund (HEP Fund) rent shortfall benefit was transferred to a housing program under the department of Housing and Urban Affairs (HUA) effective April 1. The program is called Direct to Tenant Rent Supplement Program.
If you are currently receiving the rent shortfall benefit you were sent a notice in the mail about the transfer and your benefits. If you have lost the notice please click here for a copy.
If you are seeking help for the first time to pay a rent shortfall, please contact the Housing Management Body nearest you for information on the Direct to Tenant Rent Supplement Program.
If you need emergency social assistance with an eviction notice or help to pay a damage deposit please contact your local Alberta Works income support office or call 780-644-5135 (in Edmonton only) or call toll-free 1-866-644-5135.
