Full-Time and Apprenticeship Study

While attending an approved training program, individuals may be eligible for income support and training benefits. Eligibility for income support is based on the household unit meeting the program and financial eligibility criteria.

Before you apply

The applications have been redesigned so they can be completed online. The new applications will assist users in filling in the information required. The forms can be saved on a personal computer while being completed. Completed applications go through a verification process before they can be printed and signed. We do not accept applications submitted online.

Full-Time Study

To be eligibile for income support and training benefits applicants must meet with an approved training provider or staff at an Alberta Works office. In advance of that, applicants may wish to fill out an application form. If you require additional help with this form you may review the completion instructions.

Once printed, you must sign the application and mail it to:

Additional Forms

The information required to assess eligibility is on the Learner and Apprentice Application forms. Depending on your situation, there are additional forms that may need to be submitted with your application or when your circumstances change. Links to these documents have been provided within the application and provided below.

Confirm with your training provider that they are part of the Ministry’s Accountability Framework Agreement (AFA). If they are not an AFA training provider you must provide a copy of your admission letter to your authorized official with your application. If you are not able to provide a copy of your admission letter ask your Non-AFA training provider to complete the Non-AFA Training Provider Information Form and submit it with your application form.

Change in Circumstances

If you are currently in training and receiving funding from us, you must report any changes that occur during your training on a Change in Circumstances form as soon as possible. You and, if applicable, your spouse/partner must sign the Change in Circumstances form for any type of change made.

For example, these changes include, but are not limited to: change in marital status, change in family composition, change in program/courses, and change in earnings or assets, etc.

Include supporting documentation with your Change in Circumstances form. It is recommended your authorized official review your Change in Circumstances form.

Change in Circumstances forms can be filled out online, printed, signed and mailed to the address below:
